    FAQ

How do I play word search?

The words in the list are hidden in the grid along straight lines: across, down or diagonally. When you spot one, trace it from its first letter to its last (or tap the first and last letters). It gets circled and crossed off the list with a ✓. Find them all to finish.

    Which directions can words go?

On 8×8, right, down and down-right. On 10×10, up-right as well. On 12×12, all eight directions, including backwards (left, up and the reverse diagonals). Two words may share one letter.

What if I find a word that isn't in the list?

Only the words in the list count. Letters that happen to spell another word don't. Each listed word appears in exactly one place in the grid.

How do I select a word, or use a keyboard?

Put your finger (or mouse) on the first letter, drag in a straight line to the last letter, and let go. You can also tap the first letter and then the last. With a keyboard, move with the arrow keys and press Space or Enter to choose the first and last letters. Esc starts the selection over.

    How is the leaderboard ranked?

By the time from when the grid appears to finding every word, fastest first. You only need a nickname, up to 30 submissions per size a day. The positions you found are checked against the grid on the server. The Japanese edition uses a different grid and has its own leaderboard.
