FAQ
What age is it for?
Grades 1 and 2, once kids have learned addition and subtraction. Up to ¥100 is one item paid with a ¥100 coin, so kids who can count in tens can solve it.
What changes with the level? Why yen?
Up to ¥100 is one item paid with a ¥100 coin. Up to ¥500 is two items paid with a ¥500 coin or a ¥1000 bill. Up to ¥1000 is three items paid with a ¥1000 bill. The game is set in a shop in Japan, so prices are in Japanese yen (¥). Yen has no cents and every price is a multiple of 10 yen, so the change is a multiple of 10 yen too.
What if my child can't work out the total?
Press Total? to see just the total for that problem first (with the addition). Using the hint still lets a perfect run go on the leaderboard. The number of hints used is shown in the result, which is handy for looking back together.
What happens with a wrong answer?
There is no red X. The number entered gives a little wiggle, and the right change and math like "1000 − 320 = 680" are shown before the next problem. That problem still counts as wrong, and the run can no longer go on the leaderboard.
How is the leaderboard ranked?
Only a run with all 10 right can be submitted, ranked by the time to finish, fastest first. Each level has its own leaderboard. The problems change at midnight Japan time (UTC+9), and everyone gets the same 10 on the same day and level. Random practice gives new problems every time and is not recorded.
