FAQ

How do I keep it from breaking?

Move slowly along the line. The game doesn't judge how neat your shape is, only whether you followed the line in order, so if you go bit by bit you won't fail. Lifting your finger doesn't break it, so if you're unsure, stop and reset your grip.

Can I lift my finger partway through?

Yes. While your finger is up, your progress just pauses and no cracks are added. Use it when you want to change your grip or scroll the page.

How many shapes are there?

8 in all. Easy has the star and the heart; Normal has the flower, fish and umbrella; Hard has the butterfly, the airplane and the eight-point star. Press "Next shape" to switch to another shape at the same level.

Why is there no leaderboard?

This site only accepts records that the server can verify by replaying your moves. In katanuki, the path your finger traces is the record itself, so it can't be verified this way, and the game is practice only. Your personal best for each shape is saved in this browser.

Is it the same trick as real katanuki?

The idea is the same. With the real candy, you never push hard all at once; you work along the line little by little, and the more complex the shape, the more likely it breaks at a corner. In this game, too, shapes with more corners are harder.
