FAQ
How does it work?
Read the Across and Down clues and write the Japanese word that fits, one kana per square. Where an Across and a Down word cross, they share that square. Fill every square correctly to finish. Smaller sizes use only common words, so Small is the best place to start.
How do I write small kana and long vowels?
As in Japanese crosswords, small kana are written full-size: kippu (ticket) is filled in as ki-tsu-pu and shashin (photo) as shi-ya-shi-n. The long-vowel mark (a dash) takes one square. If you enter a small kana, it's changed to full-size automatically.
How do I enter characters?
Select a square or a clue and that word is highlighted. Type in hiragana, katakana or romaji (sakana, koohii; use - for the long-vowel mark) and press Enter: the kana go in from the selected square onward. Tap the same square again to switch between Across and Down.
How is the leaderboard ranked?
